In line with our aims and objectives such as promoting human rights among the citizens as well as sensitizing the general public on their civic rights and responsibilities, and in the bid to ensure free, fair, transparent and credible 2027 General Elections in Nigeria, the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Initiative (CDAJDPCI) passionately encourages the general public to take part in the activities prior to the commencement of the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria.
As Nigeria prepares for another important democratic exercise, the role of every eligible citizen cannot be overemphasized. Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in the electoral process, and the first step towards exercising this civic responsibility is obtaining a valid Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
To this end, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, providing eligible Nigerians with the opportunity to register as voters, update their voter information, transfer their registration to a new polling unit, replace lost or damaged PVCs, and correct personal information where necessary.
Why the Continuous Voter Registration Matters
The Continuous Voter Registration exercise is more than a routine administrative process. It is a critical step in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy by ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to participate in choosing credible leaders.
CDAJDPCI believes that active civic participation is both a constitutional right and a moral responsibility. Every eligible Nigerian should seize this opportunity to be part of shaping the future of our nation through peaceful and lawful participation in the electoral process.
Who Should Participate?
The Continuous Voter Registration exercise is open to:
- Nigerians who are 18 years and above and have never registered to vote.
- Citizens who have relocated and wish to transfer their voting location to a new polling unit.
- Individuals whose Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) have been lost, stolen, or damaged and require replacement.
- Registered voters who need to correct or update personal information such as their name, date of birth, or other details.

Monday, 11th May 2026 – Sunday, 26th July 2026
Registration Time
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Registration Venues
All INEC State Offices, Local Government Area (LGA) Offices, and designated registration centres nationwide.

However, applicants should note that online pre-registration must be completed by visiting an INEC registration centre for biometric capture before registration can be finalized.
